He grazed my arm
then sawed it off.
He whispered into my ears
then bit it off.
He nudged my elbow,
then he cut a hole.
My eyes reflected the light
he was.
But he gorged them out
For Adam’s ale – perhaps
a tinge of salt and vinegar
Oh boy,
was it bitter.
He bought me shoes
but took the laces
left me in all unknown places.
He gave me a watch
without a dial –
showing me time,
was a trying trial.
